Attorney Referral

There is no “Consumer Reports” that explains how to find a good attorney. So when you have a legal problem and need a lawyer, it can be difficult to know who to contact. After 27 years as a judge, I know which attorneys are the best in the State of Michigan and who has the experience to help you. I can refer you to an attorney who specializes in the area of law that you need.

This service is free for you.   The only fee you pay will be to the attorney for their services. I will arrange to have the lawyer reimburse me for my time without cost to you.[1]

How can you contact me?

  1. Simply fill out the information request form to the right and then click "Send Message".
  1. I will assess your legal problem and then call you at the number you provide. After a short conversation, I will provide the name and contact number of an attorney who can help you. Or if you wish I can provide the names of several attorneys, so that you can pick the one you like best.
  1. I will contact the attorney to let them know that I am recommending them to you and give them your name, but I will not make the appointment for you. That is your responsibility.
  1. If you decide you want to hire the attorney I recommend, you should discuss their fees and ask to review a written representation agreement in advance of your commitment.

It is that simple.

[1] Pursuant to MRPC 1.5(e)    A division of a fee between lawyers who are not in the same firm may be made only if: (1) the client is advised of and does not object to the participation of all the lawyers involved; and (2) the total fee is reasonable. Fees may be divided by lawyers who are not in the same firm, the client must be advised of the identity of the lawyers who will divide the fee, what services each lawyer will be providing and which lawyers will be responsible for the matter. Both the referring lawyer and the receiving lawyer are responsible to see that the client is properly advised and does not object to the participation of the lawyers.
